AMPPE’s Pre-Budget Submission

AMPPE has once again prepared and submitted budget recommendations for the Federal Government pre-budget consultations in advance of the 2024 budget.

The submission targeted 4 recommendations:

  • Recommendation #1 – The Government of Canada, through Parks Canada, reinvest in Canada’s public infrastructure within Canada’s National Parks. This should be done by addressing existing transportation and facility maintenance backlogs.
  • Recommendation #2 – The Government of Canada, through Parks Canada, increase the operational/maintenance budget of Canada’s Mountain National Parks, earmarking funds for the Icefields Parkway.
  • Recommendation #3- Encourage Parks Canada to adopt the Government of Canada’s Tourism Growth strategy principles while still delivering on commitments outlined in the Parks Management plans.
  • Recommendation #4 – The Government of Canada, alongside the Provinces and Territories, should create metrics of success to measure programs and development (permitting and licensing processes and timelines) and report back to Parliament annually.
