If you are headed out hiking, biking or camping near Banff please take note of this important closure in the region: Minnewanka: Stewart Canyon to the east Park Boundary Closure

WHAT: Pursuant to Section 36(1) of the National Parks General Regulations, of the Canada National Parks Act, the following area is closed to all traffic and travel by order of the Superintendent:

WHERE: The Minnewanka Lakeshore trail and vicinity from Stewart Canyon to the Banff National Park Boundary, including the Aylmer Pass trail. All campgrounds are closed – Lm8, Lm9, Lm11, Lm20, Lm22, Lm31.

WHY: Bears have shown bold behaviour and accessed human food in a campsite.

PENALTY: Violators may be charged under the Canada National Parks Act: maximum penalty
$25 000.
