April 2017

Parks Canada is exploring the creation of an environmentally-friendly bike and walking pathway from the Columbia Icefield to Jasper.

The Government of Canada announced funding for a proposed recreational trail project with Budget 2016. The project concept arises from the Icefields Parkway Strategic Concept (2009) which was guided by a steering committee with additional representation by indigenous people and the general public. The proposed, environmentally-friendly trail is intended to meet the needs of a wide-range of users, cyclists, runners and families that may wish to leave their cars behind so they can closer connect with the landscape.
